The Midwives at Sussex Independent Midwives Ltd are here to provide individualised care to women throughout Sussex and the borders of neighbouring counties.

As Midwives who have chosen to practice outside the NHS we can bring you the care that you deserve to have, but that the current system within the NHS is unable to give you. We should know, we have years of experience working as Labour Ward Sisters at large teaching hospitals, but have chosen to practice as Independent Midwives to give the one to one, dedicated care that you will find at Sussex Independent Midwives. If you choose us to provide your care throughout pregnancy, labour and the month following as you adapt to family life you can be reassured that you have selected professionals who have made the conscious decision to utilise their many years of Midwifery experience within the NHS to provide you and your family with a safe and experienced alternative.

We are dedicated to helping you and your family make decisions that are right for your circumstances. We have the time and flexibility as we take on a small caseload to discuss and research your options for all aspects of your care. In building a relationship with you and your family over the duration of your pregnancy we can understand your wishes and needs and will thus know through labour what you would want. At this time we know that peace and passive understanding are key, this can happen when a relationship already exists.
  

Research shows again and again by knowing and choosing those who are with you at the time of your labour it maximises your chances of getting the birth experience you want, improves your chances of successfully breast feeding and decreases the risk of post natal depression. It is not all one sided! Just think how lucky we are to get to know different families and share in such an amazing time in their lives, we appreciate this and are confident this comes across in our care.
